How Good are you at Listening?

You are Probably a Terrible Listener!
Lately I’ve been kind of obsessed with a new digital buzzword. It’s ‘social listening’. Actually it’s so much more than a buzzword. It’s something you need to start doing ASAP. Social Listening refers to listening (without interfering) to conversations that are being had about your industry and your brand. Why should you do that? Simple. It gives you an opportunity to tap into what your customers really care about as well as tailor your product or service to match their needs. On social media you also have a window of opportunity to gain additional visibility by jumping on to a hashtag that’s trending, especially if you have something relevant to say! Let me drive this home for you. In the United Kingdom, many high-end bakers are making a commemorative cake for the upcoming wedding of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle. Why are they doing this? It’s certainly not because they’re out of ideas. It’s because this is a unique chance to be a part of the conversation, to feed people’s interest in a topic area in which they are starved for information. Here are examples of social listening opportunities you may have missed or are missing right now!
