What You Can Learn From the GTBank Food and Drink Fair

Did you Attend the GTBank Food and Drink Fair?
Wow! For Three days Lagosians got a chance to stuff their faces to their heart’s content! But as a business owner, it got me thinking…what made this fair so successful (in real life and on social media)! If you were there, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Here are my thoughts. Media Blitz! I talked a little bit about this on Instagram. The campaign for this was a Masterclass in communications. They did an excellent job hitting their target audiences from multiple media. Radio, Print, Outdoor advertising, social media influencers, social media ads, you name it! Of course you may not have the budget that GTBank does, but at the very basic level, for your next event, you might want to consider thinking beyond social media advertising and publicity. User Generated Content Thanks to the fabulous photo installation, attendees had the opportunity to take cool photos and share it online. This is easy for you to adopt at your next pop up or shopping party. Create something for your customers to interact with. The trick is to get them to feel something enough that it gets them excited to post. This is easy publicity for you to generate so take note! Familiarity and Discovery What GTBank really did was to create an opportunity for people to interact with their favorite brands and discover new ones. This was a recipe for success. You might be thinking, what does this mean for me? Well, what are the ways you can incorporate this recipe of familiarity and discovery into your nest customer experience event? For example, if you owned a clothing brand, you could bring back old favorites as well as give customers an opportunity to shop your new collection. There’s inspiration everywhere! I know I was moved by how much fun people were having. Sure there is room for improvement. But I know I would be thrilled to create an event that could fill my customers with that much joy. If you attended the GTBank Food and Drink Fair what were your favorite parts?
