Feeling drained? Lets fix that

"A rested mind is a fruitful mind!"

Yes, the life of an entrepreneur is all consuming. Your Brain is probably trying to think about 100 things at once, everything that hits your inbox is “URGENT!", you’re part of a million and one WhatsApp Groups. It’s a hot mess. One thing I believe, is that a rested mind is a fruitful mind. Not only do you make better decisions as an entrepreneur and leader but also, you are able to see patterns you may otherwise have missed.

Sleep is not always equal to rest. In other words, sleep is not always the answer. I’m sure you’ve gone to bed before and had more than 6 hours of sleep only to wake up with the same deep exhaustion

A little secret I’ve discovered is that there are ways for me to get pockets of rest throughout the day. Here’s how.

Designated DND

I’ve found that being focused on a single task is a kind of rest. The best way to do this is to decide not to be pulled in different directions at will. There are a few hours in the day when I turn on the Do Not Disturb function on my phone. It’s not a coincidence that these are also the most productive hours of my day.

Give realistic deadlines (even if they seem far away)

A lot of our unrest comes from deadlines we impose on ourselves. Don’t get me wrong. Discipline is good. But when your deadlines are unrealistic, it’s all a mess. You’re a mess, your relationship with the client or customer also takes a beating. You can avoid this undue stress by giving yourself some wiggle room, to do good work. Let Go of the guilt

On a Friday night, once in a while, you’re allowed to sit down with your drink of choice and enjoy your favorite series. Commit to taking that hour (or however long you decide) out and enjoy it. Bubble wrap that time as sacred and let go of the guilt that will try to weigh you down.

Well, the weekend is here and I certainly hope you have planned some restful activity or different stimuli to keep you motivated and energized about the important work you are doing.
