The idea of becoming an entrepreneur can be thrilling. However, starting a business comes with challenges, too. Before you begin, ask yourself these 12 questions.

1. Would you jump on a high paying job in exchange for dumping your business idea?

2. Are you willing to live, eat, breath, think your business?Work around the clock with very little time to spare?

3. Are you a risk taker or do you err on the side of caution?

4. Can you live without a salary for the foreseeable future?

5. Can you handle criticism? Better yet, can you handle failure?

6. Is your idea filling a gap int he market? Is there a need for it? Are you solving a pain?

7. Does the business get you excited?

8. Do you know how you’ll get your first 100 customers?

9. Do you have dependents?

10. Do you have an understanding of the product, service and industry to which you plan to enter?

11. Would you pay your employees first?

12. Do you like garri and Ekpa? :-)

If you answered YES to 9-12 Questions:

You very likely know what lies ahead and are ready to take the dive anyways. GO FOR IT!!

If you answered YES to 6-9 Questions:

You might want to consider speaking to or partnering with entrepreneurs with more experience.

If you answered YES to 3-6 Questions:

Entrepreneurship sounds interesting to you. But you’d rather dip your toes in the pool first. Try reaching out to other entrepreneurs that need support or seed funding. You may be interested in investing.

If you answered YES to 1-3 Questions:

You are new at this whole entrepreneurship thing. Keep reading, keep learning and keep looking for that idea that will pique your interest.
